thankful#139: doors with locks

There have been many moments the past week or so that have tested my patience - more than ever before. Kinsley is going through some phase - at least I hope it's a phase - where she is just a nightmare. (I should clarify: A nightmare compared to her normal self. I realize that she is not actually a nightmare - she could be MUCH worse.) I've heard that the threes are really much worse than the "terrible twos", but we are seeing it in full effect. Really, she's much more pleasant than not, but the NOT moments really really test me. And today I was near my end. When Kevin got home I went for a short run and then took a shower ... and locked the door. Normally I leave the door unlocked in case someone needs to use the bathroom, and I typically have visitors peaking their heads in while I'm showering. I don't mind at all. But tonight, I needed my own space for five minutes. I locked the door. And while I could have used another couple of hours in there, those five minutes were a good chance to just breathe and semi-relax.
